Damn! And anonymous spelled it right, too.
But *just* in case he/she is wrong, I'll guess it's a wad of spitting tobacco that missed the spittoon.
I knew as it was loading that the picture would be gross, Stacy!
Don't know, but ick!
Yep! It’s Meconium, aka: baby’s first poo. Congrats Anonymous!
I thought this might be helpful for first-time pregnant moms. When you first see, this sticky, black, tar-like stuff come out your baby’s butt, it can be alarming. No worries... It’s perfectly normal. Here’s the technical definition, compliments of Wickipedia.
Meconium is the first stool of an infant, composed of materials ingested during the time the infant spends in the uterus: intestinal epithelial cells, lanugo, mucus, amniotic fluid, bile, and water. Meconium is sterile, unlike later feces, is viscous and sticky like tar, and has no odor.
WOW, my goodness, is that what the first poo looks like?
Well, i was gunna guess poop, but I didn't think it had a scientific name. Hey, you didn't cover this in your book!?
